Over 350 people attended a banquet and ball to celebrate the official opening of the marvellous new Casino building this evening. The ribbon cutting was performed by Lord Stamp, chairman of the LMS Railway Company.

The new entertainment palace has been designed by architect Joseph Emberton, who has been transforming the wider Pleasure Beach in the modernist style with designs for the Grand National station, Ice Drome and Fun House, among others.

The new building has replaced the previous Casino of 1913 and represents an investment of £300,000 and offers a number of facilities including a billiard room, soda fountain and restaurant.
