Name Gold Mine Opened 1972 Closed 2011 Manufacturer Arrow Development Replaced By Thrill-o-Matic
New for the 1972 season was the Gold Mine, a subterranean adventure through a gold mine, filled with a cast of characters … some working harder than others. The ride was constructed on the overpass, sharing space with the River Caves and Ghost Train.
❓Did You Know❓
Pleasure Beach has worked with a number of ride manufacturers over the years, but more than any other Arrow Development (later Arrow Dynamics) helped shape the park, constructing the Grand Prix, Log Flume, Alice In Wonderland, Gold Mine, Steeplechase, Revolution and The Big One.
At the end of the 2011 season, after some sporadic operation, the ride was closed and elements of the ride system were incorporated into Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic, fulfilling a long term ambition of Geoffrey Thompson OBE, realised by a new generation of the Thompson family.
