Two Pleasure Beach favourites had a rare honour bestowed upon them earlier today as American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) presented Roller Coaster Landmark designations to the Big Dipper and Grand National. The plaques were presented to Andy Hygate, Director of Operations and James Cox, Director of Marketing.
Communications director of ACE, Derek Perry said “ACE members are extremely excited that the Big Dipper and Grand National are now ACE Roller Coaster Landmarks. I can’t think of two more deserving wooden coasters which reside in the same park.”
Chief executive of Pleasure Beach Resort, Amanda Thompson OBE, said “It’s an honour to receive the ACE Rollercoaster Landmark Plaques for both Big Dipper and Grand National. These rides hold a special place in the hearts of our guests and we’re proud that the importance of their heritage has been recognised.”
The Big Dipper celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, the Grand National will celebrate 90 years in 2025.
