This ride is defunct.
The Orbitor was one of a number of temporary rides set up on the south end of the park during the 1970s and 1980s before more modern permanent rides, fixtures and infrastructure were in place. Others included the Astroliner, Bobslay, Galaxy and Rock O Plane.
Unlike most of the other rides mentioned above, the ride does appear in a number of photographs in official park booklets of the time. The spelling of the ride’s name is contentious. In marketing materials, it is almost always known as ‘Orbiter’, however the sign on the ride reads ‘Orbitor’. It is the latter name that is used here – not for principled reason, we just had to choose one or the other and have opted to match the photograph.
