Ahead of the launch of the Big One, the park sold boarding cards ahead of the ride’s launch. These were sold during the second half of the 1993 season until the ride opened and in total over 10,000 were purchased. They could be redeemed on any day of the 1994 season.

A boarding card cost £2.00, roughly equivalent to £4.40 in April 2026. This represented a discount as the ride cost one ‘A Ticket’ or £3.00 on opening day, roughly equivalent to £6.60 in April 2026.

On opening day, 1,000 members of the park’s 235 Club were invited to take the first rides. Each had paid £18.00 for a guaranteed first day ride, a souvenir photo and a glass of champagne.

On opening weekend, the trains ran non-stop and carried 40,000 riders.
