CLITHEROE ADVERTISER AND TIMES

THURSDAY, JUNE 22, 2000

It may be a tall order, but a Ribble Valley team managed to recreate a horned helmet fit for a 40ft Norse skeleton.
The challenge for local brothers Roger and Peter Hargreaves and a team of joiners from their Hall Street firm was to be build the frontage for Valhalla - the newest ride to open at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Not only did the Ribble Valley team build the impressive frontage which stands about 90ft high and is pictured here, they were also involved in building the shop at the end of the ride, a project which saw them back in Blackpool between Christmas and Easter this year.
In the past, joiners from the brother’s Clitheroe firm, R. And P. Hargreaves have also worked on the Big One and on one of the sideshows on the sea front.
To mark their achievements, the siblings were among the specially-invited guests who recently joined television celebrity Jonathan Ross for the official opening of Valhalla. “It was just brilliant, excellent” said Mr Roger Hargreaves, of West Bradford.
And, speaking about the firm’s involvement with the multi-million pound project, he added: “It is a unique job and one you don’t get to do every day of the week.”
