BLACKPOOL TIMES

FRIDAY JUNE 2, 1933

Every small boy in Blackpool this summer will want to travel on the Pleasure Beach Express - the new miniature railway that is going to be such a popular feature of the Pleasure Beach.
Certainly the grown-up people will make no trouble about taking the youngsters, for the new “express” is a fascinating sight for old and young alike.
Perfect miniature editions of full sized railway locomotives, with the standard black and green finish, the little locos will be coupled to a line of coaches and are capable of pulling as many as 200 people each.
They have been turned out by Messrs. Hudswell, Clarke and Company, Railway Foundry, Leeds, a firm that makes locomotives for every part of the world.
The motive power of the Pleasure Beach Express is supplied by 26 h.p. Dorman-Diesel engines.
Two locomotives will be in readiness so that one may be cleaned and overlooked while the other is in use. A specially trained driver will be in charge, for nothing is left a chance.
It is many years since a miniature railway ran on the pleasure beach. The present generation has no recollection of it. The Pleasure Beach Express will therefore have the charm of novelty and will undoubtedly be one of the bigger attractions during Whit week and throughout the season.
