01/11/1989 – £8m of investment announced for 1990 season

As the 1989 season draws to a close, a slew of new attractions and improvements have been announced for the 1990 season.

Chief among them will be Ocean Boulevard, the £6million development on the seafront, housing 38 outlets. Within the perimeter of the park, the new Greatest Show on Earth dark ride will be opening near the Steeplechase and will feature 600 animated models.

At the northern end of the site, two attractions will see significant investment. The Auto Skooter will see a radical transformation into Superbowl, with the classic streamlined cars being replaced by vehicles shaped as beefy Quarterbacks and Fullbacks. Furthermore, the Grand National station will be transformed and rebuilt to the original 1935 Joseph Emberton plans.
