For a number of generations, the Fun House is perhaps the Pleasure Beach attraction that invokes the most nostalgia. Many hours on rainy days would be spent in the cavernous hall, designed by Joseph Emberton.
It was the largest Fun House in the world and featured a number of machines and devices that evolved over the years. Huge slides, a Social Mixer and eccentric stairways were to be found throughout the huge building.
Tragically, the attraction was lost in a severe fire on the night of 14th December 1991. This occured only four years after Fun City, the fun house at Morecambe’s Frontierland was also lost.
The site was eventually reused for the construction of Valhalla for the 2000 season.
