Dreamland at Margate have announced that their Scenic Railway ride will no longer be operational after sitting closed throughout the 2025 season. The park has said that “The Scenic Railway has completed its journey as a roller coaster and will now take well-earned retirement from operation as a ride.”

The Margate ride opened in 1920 and was constructed by John Henry Iles who was also responsible for the Pleasure Beach Scenic Railway of 1907.

The closure means that the park’s Big Dipper built in 1923 is now the UK’s oldest operating roller coaster.
