Seaside Special was a BBC variety show that broadcast from seaside resorts around the UK from 1975 – 1979. It was recorded in a circus big top and broadcast on Saturday evenings. BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2 DJs provided links alongside musical and comedy guests.

In the very first episode, Ken Dodd presents a show from Blackpool featuring Dana and Wild Honey. An elaborate dance routine takes place throughout the park, with performers all wearing t-shirts featuring their names. Seen throughout the footage are the Monorail, Eli Wheels, Log Flume and Monster.

Unfortunately, this footage only exists at low resolution with the timecode in picture.

One of the Lausanne trains on the Monorail approaches a curve on the original route. Later, the trains would continue to head north and loop around the perimeter of the Casino building.
Note also that the train doesn't have the doors that would retrofitted in later years.
The dancing shifts to the Ark where dancers are positioned all over the structure
The rockets on the Flying Machine are similar in design today, however, they are slightly more open and are multicoloured. Later, they would adopt the white livery that are seen with today, with the 'GT' numbers added on their tails.
Very enthusiastic dancing on the Log Flume
Before the construction of Ocean Boulevard, the Log Flume could be seen from the promenade.
Run out on drop 1 - still dancing
The Monster with the Auto Skooter, Ark and Casino in the background.
Still dancing, this time on the northern Eli/Ferris Wheel
Back to the Ark ... for more dancing
By accident or design, the figure on the left is performing dance moves similar to the human dancers
