If you are looking for the current maze, see Chinese Puzzle Maze

Mazes have a history that dates back thousands of years in myth, legend and reality. The original Pleasure Beach maze operated at the northern end of the site behind the Derby Racer for over half a century.

Perhaps the most notable thing about the attraction was the layout of the maze itself. It was an almost verbatim copy of the Hampton Court Maze at Hampton Court Palace – the oldest surviving hedge maze in Britain, having been planted in the 1600s.

The park’s original maze was closed in 1997 to aid the progress of Project 2000. The new Chinese Puzzle Maze opened at the opposite end of the site for the 1998 season.
