A staple of amusement parks and fairgrounds, a classic Caterpillar ride debuted at the park in 1927. A ride of similar design was sourced and opened for the 1976 season. There are photographs of it situated in multiple places at the south end of the park.

According to the book Century of Fun by Peter Bennett, this ride had previously operated at the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. It is said to have been a concession of John Henry Iles who built the park’s Scenic Railway.
