With the construction of the Pepsi Max Big One in 1994, the ride held no secrets – the vast structure towered above everything else in the park and South Shore. With the launch of Valhalla in 2000, things were different.

The secrets of the ride lay behind the vast rock face and its cascading waterfall. Not since the opening of Space Invader in 1984 had a new attraction been hidden from view in such a way.

With construction reaching the final phases, additional concept art was released. The ride was previewed for the press in April 2000 and the following month the first ‘adventurneers’ boarded their longboats to discover the secrets of the twilight world of the Gods.
