The introduction of the Wild Mouse in 1958 saw the completion of the Pleasure Beach’s much lauded collection of wooden rides. Quite soon after, the industry was beginning to use steel to create a new generation roller coasters. The first steel coaster to arrive at the Pleasure Beach was Cyclone, debuting in 1974.

A number of rides have operated at multiple parks that have been owned by the Thompson family. Rides such as Tidal Wave and Millennium Bug (Astroswirl) operated in both Blackpool and Southport. Rides including the Space TowerCyclone and Big Apple operated in both Blackpool and Morecambe.

The ride was an Italian built Pinfari Z40, running four seater cars around a compact circuit. The ride operated until 1987, when it was moved to Frontierland in Morecambe, to make way for the Avalanche.
