"Come aboard two by two ..."
This 1922 attraction can trace its history back through 4,000 years of Biblical history. Taking inspiration from the story of a flood in the book of Genesis, the Ark has found itself perched on the mountains of Ararat.
The first Ark appeared in 1919 at Venice Pier in California. It was designed by was designed and built by Leroy Ramond who later sold the rights for the ride to William Dentzel. The Pleasure Beach ride was built by William H. Strickler who built the Reel the same year.
Full of fun house style gags, the rocking motion of the ride itself added to the peril of navigation around the Ark. With the reconstruction of the entrance building in 1996, the footprint of the attraction was enlarged.
