Based on the ‘Great Naval Spectatorium’ of 1904 at Coney Island’s Luna Park, the Naval Spectatorium opened in Blackpool in 1910. The attraction was what was coined a ‘Cyclorama’, a show presented in a cylindrical theatre with the audience seated in the centre of the room.

The performances utilised props and magic lantern slides. Enactments included the the Battle of Hampton Roads from the American Civil War, featuring the ships Monitor and Merrimac. Later presentations featured the Coronation Review at Spithead and later the Zeebrugge Raid of 1918.

For 1927, the attraction was reimagined into the Indian Temple of Mysteries.
