S&S introduced the Space Shot concept to the market with the opening of the first ride at Reino Aventura (now Six Flags Mexico) in 1995. The Pleasure Beach ride would debut two years later, just three years after the launch of The Big One.

The ride consists of a vertical tower, with twelve riders being shot skywards at speeds of over 60mph.

After the success of the sponsorship deal with Britvic for the Big One, the park sought out another brand to lend its name to the 1997 project and on the back of a deal with Sony, PlayStation: The Ride opened on the North side of the park, on the former site of the Egg Scrambler and the Monster.

The park's own creative department is called Pleasure Beach Studios and has been responsible for work relating to projects including Launch Pad, the reimagining of Valhalla and Aviktas.

In its early seasons, the tower loomed over the Project 2000 construction site. The name was later changed to Ice Blast but ride the ride remained otherwise unchanged.

For the 2025 season, the ride was reimagined with an all new launch system, new aesthetics and a new name – Launch Pad.
