A fire has significantly damaged the Grand National station this evening. The alarm was raised by security staff at around 9.20pm. Ten Lancashire fire crews worked tirelessly to get the blaze under control, using water from the Valhalla reservoir to aid their efforts.

Designed by Joseph Emberton, the station is one of the most iconic structures at the park. Originally built with the ride in 1935, it was rebuilt to the original plans in 1990.

It is understood that Trauma Towers and Alice in Wonderland also suffered some minor damage. The park will open as planned tomorrow.
