11/01/1986 – British Rail station planned for park

There may soon be a new way to get to the park, as the Pleasure Beach company has revealed that they are in active discussions with British Rail to open a new mainline station at the southern end of the property.

The station would be built on the existing line between the existing Squires Gate and Blackpool South stations. It is expected that the new station, located near Burlington Road, would cost an estimated £60,000. This would be funded by British Rail, the Pleasure Beach company and other civic interests.

Discussions are continuing.
