The Water Chute is one of the most photographed rides of the early twentieth century. Introduced for the 1907 season alongside the Scenic Railway, those two mammoth rides showed the scale of the ambition that was driving the park forward.

The flat bottomed boats descended the rides main structure into a shallow pool, guided by a gondolier who would punt the boat to the shore.

Water Chutes were direct descendents of later water rides like the Log Flume and were a common site at amusement parks in the early 1900s, with examples at Southport, Southend, among others.

A new, albeit quite different ride bearing the Water Chute name opened at the park for the 1979 season.
