A stonemason working on the new Casino building was injured earlier today. At about 09:30, Edward Thorpe aged 22 was working to erect the new building when a pillar collapsed. He sustained injuries to his ribs and suffered a broken leg.
Mr Darwent of the Pleasure Beach company administered first aid and summoned an ambulance by telephonic message. Mr Thorpe was removed to the Victoria Hospital and is said to be in good spirits.
The new building is expected to open at Easter.
