27/08/1959 – Tom Purvis dies aged 71

Famed artist Tom Purvis has died aged 71. He came to work at the park through a connection with Joseph Emberton. His designs have adorned a number of buildings at the Pleasure Beach.

His most recognisable work at the park is perhaps that featured in Ice Drome production programmes and posters. He was also responsible for the creation of the Ice Drome Jack character.
