20/11/1959 – Permission for chairlift granted

After ultimately opting not to purchase the chairlift from the Brussels Expo 58, Blackpool Corporation have approved the erection of a chairlift at the Pleasure Beach.

The new attraction will run for 400 yards from the northern end of the park near the Fun House to the southern end near the Roller Coaster turnaround. It will cross Watson Road twice. The corporation have requested that a safety net should be erected at this point.

It is expected that it will be launched for the 1960 season.
