The new for 2012 high diving show opened earlier today. Amanda Thompson was on hand to cut the ribbon ahead of the first performance.

La Quebrada evokes the high diving shows of the past that featured prominently during the 1990s and features some of the same cast. The show was featuring in the BBC ‘Pleasure Beach’ documentary in 1998.

The show is being staged in a custom arena, built in a new area called ‘The Plaza’. This is located on the former site of the Bling flat ride. Diving is currently very much in vogue with the London 2012 Olympics getting underway later this month, with Team GB medal hopes for Tom Daley.

La Quebrada is performing three or four times daily until 2 September.
