This beautiful postcard sent from Blackpool in 1924 shows a thriving night scene at the north end of the site. Seen on the left hand side is the Reel, itself and Noah’s Ark some of the earliest attractions to be constructed after the pause of development due to World War I.

The (left to right) Water Chute, House of Nonsense, Flying Machine, Noah’s Ark, Scenic Railway, Rainbow Wheel, Big Dipper and Helter Skelter Lighthouse can also be seen. The mammoth building that housed the Naval Spectatorium is just visible in the background behind the Rainbow Wheel.

The size of the structure around Noah’s Ark is interesting. The postcard shows the ride as originally constructed in 1922 with a small footprint. The rocky structure around the ride represents Mount Ararat, the mountain on which the Ark came to rest upon, when the biblical flood subsided. It wasn’t until 1996 when current, much larger entrance building was constructed around the attraction.
