The Sky Ride (or ‘Sky Wheels’) was one of the first significant rides to arrive after the war, opening in 1953. It was relocated from Battersea Funfair, which was built as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951.

The ride was an American design, built by Samuel Butler of Leeds. At the end of its run at Blackpool in 1964, it was relocated to Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach.

The name Sky Ride is sometimes confused with the Cableway.
