This ride is defunct.

The Scat used a riding position similar to that of the Millennium Bug, whereby riders lay against the wall of the vehicle and remain there via centrifugal force. Unlike the Millennium Bug, the ride had two vehicles that span on a rotating base – it’s far easier to watch this video than have us to try to explain.

It was located close to the Astro Liner and can be seen in the photo on that page. Scat rides in the UK were typically built by British manufacturer Fairplace, under license from Venture Rides. It is thought is is true of the unit that operated at the park.

Scat was one of a number of temporary rides set up on the south end of the park during the 1970s and 1980s before more modern permanent rides, fixtures and infrastructure were in place. Others included the Bobslay, Fliegender Teppich and Rock O Plane.

Some sources note that the Scat opened at the Pleasure Beach in 1978, however the photo above is labelled as being taken in 1977. Please get in touch via the About page if you can help provide more information.
