The Astroliner represented one of the earliest simulator rides of the modern generation to be introduced to the industry, building on the concept of rides like Hale’s Tours, introduced half a century earlier.
A video screen at the front of the cabin, combined with the movements of the rocket provided a simulated trip to the moon and beyond.
The Astroliner was one of a number of temporary rides set up on the south end of the park during the 1970s and 1980s before more modern permanent rides, fixtures and infrastructure were in place. Others included the Bobslay, Fliegender Teppich and Rock O Plane.
