The park’s Casino building was today designated as Grade II listed by English Heritage. Commissioned by Leonard Thompson, construction began in 1937 after the demolition of the original Casino building.

Opened in 1939, the structure is one of the finest examples of a design by Joseph Emberton who also designed the Fun House, Ice Drome and the Grand National station. It is built in the International Modern style.

When built it housed entertainments on three levels. In the mid-1970s, the building was renovated and expanded with the addition of additional structures on the previous rooftop.
