Councillors will consider the park’s plans for a new hotel when they go before the town’s Development Control Committee on July 2. The new accommodation will represent an investment of £4.5million and feature 119 rooms in a location at the southern end of the site, on the current south car park.
Speaking about the plans and how they will differ from Blackpool accommodation of old, Geoffrey Thompson OBE told the West Lancashire Evening Gazette “Guests don’t want to be sharing bathrooms or be herded to the dining room on the dot at a time that suits the landlady. They want much more flexibility and a modern approach”
If approved, it is expected that the new, as yet unnamed hotel will open during the 2003 season.
