The wet weather couldn’t contain dampen the excitement on the Pleasure Beach today as the new Scenic Railway whirred into action. The new device has been under construction for many months in which workers have had to battle various challenges with uncooperative weather.

It features a long course, with hand carved vehicles that depart from a grand station at the northern end of the Pleasure Beach site.

Like the Switchback, the device is the brainchild of the American LaMarcus A. Thompson. It has been constructed by former cricketer John Henry Iles.

The ride received an enthusiastic response from patrons and the press as reported in the Fleetwood Express.
