With the departure of the Ranger, another significant flat ride to replace it, in the form of the Rainbow. New for the 1987 season, like its predecessor it was built by Huss Rides of Germany.

In some ways, the rides were similar, both featuring a large arm with a vehicle at one end and a counterweight at the other. However, unlike the Ranger, Rainbow did not turn riders updside down. Very much like the Fliegender Teppich, the ride vehicle remained parallel to the ground throughout the ride cycle.

With the arrival of the Superdome, the ride was retired and relocated to Pleasureland, Southport.
