Tumble Bug rides were common from the mid-1920s onwards, however few could be found outside of the USA. The Pleasure Beach ride opened in 1935 at the northern end of the site. Its chain of six cars roared around the circular, undulating course with a motion very similar to that of a powered roller coaster.
For the 1974 season, the ride was reimagined into the Turtle Chase when the ride’s steel track was recessed into the ground with a grassy surround, providing a much improved aesthetic.
Time was called on the ride at the end of the 2004 season.
