As part of the transformation of Beaver Creek into Nickelodeon Land, the park introduced a number of new rides alongside reimagined attractions. One of the new rides was the Bikini Bottom Bus Tour, situated on the former site of the ‘thinnest house in the world’, tucked up against the lift hill of the Nickelodeon Streak.

The park worked extensively with Zamperla when introducing new rides for Nickelodeon Land. The Italian company built Avatar Airbender, Bikini Bottom Bus Tour, Diego's Rainforest Rescue, Fairy World Taxi Spin and Wonder Pets Big Circus Bounce.

The ride features a novel mechanism that shares some characteristics of the former Fliegender Teppich, albeit with much tamer movement.
