13/06/2003 – Big Blue Hotel officially opens

The park’s new Big Blue Hotel was officially opened earlier today by Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, known to many as the runner-up in ITV’s highly successful I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

Seventy-two of the hotel’s 116 bedrooms are large-sized family rooms, with several with park views looking out on the Pepsi Max Big One, Steeplechase and Big Dipper.

The Big Blue has been built at a cost of £4.5million and as well as being the first hotel at the park, it is also the resort’s first sea front in 25 years and the first hotel at the Pleasure Beach
