The Gee-Whizz was an early flat ride that was operating during 1908 (it may have been introduced earlier). It shared a number of characteristics with a Scrambler – a ride that wouldn’t become popular for another thirty years.

Many of the rides from this period have their origins in the USA, a number from Coney Island itself; however the Gee-Whizz has a much more local connection, it was invented by local man, Mr. John Monk.
