After several months of construction, the new Big Dipper roller coaster opened earlier today to a rapturous reception. Located on the former site of the Switchback, the ride dwarfs its predecessor in both size and thrills.
The ride lives up to its name with the biggest dips ever seen on a roller coaster in this country. It is significantly larger than the Scenic Railway and the Velvet Coaster with incredibly steep drops, towering over everything else on the foreshore.
The ride journeys from its ornate station building southwards towards the Star Inn, before completing a vast turn and returning.
