Calypso was one of a number of rides introduced post-war throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, as the industry recovered and raw materials became available once again.
In operation, the ride’s motion was very similar to a Scrambler, the Calypso was located in numerous places at the northern end of the park.
The German manufacturer Mack Rides built a Calypso model, however it is unknown if the Pleasure Beach ride was built by them or another manufacturer.
